Programme Manager - Partnership Schools

Wellington - Fixed Term, Full Time

The Partnership Schools team sits within the Early Learning and Student Achievement Group (ELSA) and leads the Ministry's interaction with partnership schools.


ELSA works to make learning and teaching relevant, real and valued. We deliver and maintain critical services for the education sector to support responsive learner pathways from early childhood into further education, training, the workforce and society.  ELSA performs a crucial role working between the strategy and policy teams, and the Ministry's sector-facing functions.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a high profile, dynamic environment and apply your technical programme management expertise and your can do attitude.  The role will be focused on organising and delivering on the work programme relating to our Ministry's liaison and negotiation with partnership schools (also known as charter schools) about their future.  The Programme Manager apply practical solutions to ensure the work is run at the right tempo with fit for purpose planning and reporting structures.

Experience in significant programmes is essential, as is an understanding of the machinery of government. Education sector experience is not essential, but the ability to quickly understand the dynamics of the environment and its moving parts is.   As much as you will be a strong programme manager, you will also be a motivating force who can energise a team and drive progress.
