You will be working as part of the Ministry's regional Sector Enablement and Support team, brokering support for Boards of Trustees, senior leaders and Communities of Learning | Kāhui Ako to strengthen educational performance and deliver equity and excellence.


You must be credible, authentic with the ability to influence others and to back this up with knowledge, skills and experience in improving student engagement and achievement.


Sector Enablement and Support

Sector Enablement and Support (SE&S) is the key interface between the Ministry and education providers. It is our role to ensure that sector leaders and the communities in which they operate have access to the expertise, programmes and resources that will allow our children and young people to reach their full potential.


We give effect to government and ministry policy and support education and community leadership within a self managing system, to bring about the positive changes required to lift aspiration, and raise educational achievement for all. 


About the person:

To be successful in this role you will need to be great at: 

  • Building and maintaining successful relationships
  • Using your evaluative skills to work with data and information to solve complex problems and make decisions
  • Communicating in te reo Māori and English
  • Working with others to support and implement change initiatives
  • Working with Pasifika and Māori learners and their families


An in-depth understanding of the primary education sector and recent successful experience in working with Māori and Pasifka learners and their communities are an advantage.


External secondments from the education sector of at least twelve months may be considered.
