Join our vibrant and committed team providing advisory support for students with significant learning support needs.
You will be part of our high and complex needs service working as part of a multi-disciplinary collaborative team providing ecological assessment, intervention, and training, supporting schools to provide inclusive practices for students on the Ongoing Resource Scheme. You will be involved in assessments for property modifications to support access to education facilities, and in providing support to individual students unable to access the curriculum. This is a .6 permanent position based in the Waikato.
You will need strong teaming skills and the competency to establish effective relationships with whānau, parents, families, educators and key providers working within the community.
An awareness and sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity, a strong commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi, the Ministries priorities and the Māori education strategy ‘Ka Hikitia', are essential. A knowledge of Te Reo me ngā Tikanga and previous successful engagement with Māori is highly desirable.
Applicants must be registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand and have a current Annual Practising Certificate. Experience in paediatric practise is highly desirable. A current driver's license is required. The Ministry of Education has an equal opportunities policy.
