Senior Advisor - Internal Communications role
Located in Wellington
We're looking for the complete Senior Advisor - Internal Communications. They'll be an experienced communications specialist who has:
- a passion for internal communication
- relevant tertiary qualification e.g. communications, English or journalism
- proven strategic thinking and risk management skills - a ‘big picture' thinker
- excellent writing and editing skills, both for print and the web
- great time management
- the ability to build and maintain strong relationships across a diverse group of people.
If successful, you will work strategically and operationally in a role that is designed to strengthen the ability of the Ministry to actively engage with internal stakeholders. You will work across major projects to plan and implement communications to our people that paint a coherent picture of the Ministry, its role and its vision. You will play an integrating role, ensuring that messages and style are consistent and timely. You will also support strategic projects on leadership, organisational culture, communications, chief executive events and staff engagement.
You will contribute to communications priorities through a range of internal communications activities - telling the Ministry story internally. You'll create and collate content for Manu Taki (a weekly e-newsletter for Ministry managers) and think strategically about how to increase readership and relevance.
Ensuring high quality stories and images are uploaded to Te Tāhuhu (the staff intranet) will come naturally to you, as will thinking strategically about how the channel can be improved and developed to increase engagement.
Key relationships include the Communications team, and the wider Ministry business units, the education sector and the supplier of the Education Gazette.
