Education Infrastructure Service (EIS), a part of the Ministry of Education, creates and supports safe, healthy, inspiring and ICT enabled learning environments. EIS manages the Crown's second largest property portfolio of around 2,500 schools with a book value of $17.8 billion, is responsible for the largest payroll in the country, and transports over 100,000 students to and from school each day.
About the role
The Regional Transport Advisors (RTAs) are a key link between schools and the Ministry of Education. The Ministry contracted bus routes are a very important aspect of our regional education service, and maintaining a strong working relationship with the schools is important.
The RTAs technical role is to optimise Ministry contracted bus routes in accordance with policy, in order to ensure consistency of approach across New Zealand within the context of supporting civil wellbeing. This includes reviewing priority routes, designing optimal efficient and effective routes for eligible students, consulting with schools regarding the proposed route, assessing the suitability of public transport, managing transition plans, and assisting with preparations of media responses, all within designated time frames.

It is essential that you are capable and experienced in an operational context, and have a willingness and ability to undertake overnight travel within the region.
You will also offer:
- Conflict management experience.
- Proven experience in remote team environments, self-managing and ability to work alone and within a team.
- Technical ability and aptitude to learn new systems (mapping tools).
- Experienced in public sector operations and reporting mechanisms (desirable but not mandatory).
- Experience in stakeholder communications.
- High degree of tact, diplomacy and patience.
Some exposure to the New Zealand heavy transport or passenger transport industry would be invaluable!
