This is a fixed term parental leave position which commences on August 26 2019. This Psychologist or Special Education Adviser position will cover the South West Waikato area.
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary collaborative team providing ecological assessment, intervention, training and reporting services, advising and supporting schools and early childhood centres to provide inclusive practices that enable student success.
You will need strong teaming skills and the competency to establish effective relationships with whānau, parents, families, educators and key providers working within the community.
An awareness and sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity, a strong commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi, the Ministries priorities and the Māori education strategy ‘Ka Hikitia', are essential.
A knowledge of Te Reo me ngā Tikanga and previous successful engagement with Māori is highly desirable.
Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration as a psychologist or have relevant experience in schools. Intern psychologists will be considered. A current driver's license is required. The Ministry of Education has an equal opportunities policy.
